We have performed GPS integrated site surveys at a number of locations, producing images for inclusion in GIS mapping systems as well as generation of shape files for programs such as google earth. We have experience with GPS integrated cameras, however feel that the pictures produced by these are little more than snapshots. Therefore our preferred mode of operation is to modify the EXIF data of a picture shot with a high quality digital SLR to incorporate the location provided by a stand alone GPS system. In this way the quality of the pictures remains at the highest level and the images can still be imported into the mapping application.
